The Bravery of a Bird

Have you ever noticed how birds fly from trees, to other trees, the ground or buildings? It’s so effortless for them to take flight, so natural for them to trust their purpose and what they were created to do. I often wonder if moments before they take that leap into flight if their little tiny hearts beat a little faster at the action they’re about to take. Like do they feel any type of nervousness. I am sure its pretty much like walking is to us when they fly. But do we ever really trust our purpose and what God created us to do as effortlessly as a bird flies from its perch? Often times we lose sight of what our purpose or calling is, what has the Lord created us for? After all He has created us for such a time as this. I know when I feel the Lord leading me to do something that has purpose and is what He has called us to do as believers my heart pounds so quickly inside of my chest, but what if we got to the place where in those moments we so effortlessly trusted our Creator and what we were created for that we would soar off of our perch as effortlessly or even bravely as a bird does?

“Trust in the LORD and do good;

Dwell in the land and cultivate faithfulness.

Delight yourself in the LORD;

And He will give you the desires of your heart.

Commit your way to the LORD,

Trust also in Him, and He will do it.” Psalm 37:3-5

I wrote this about 3 days ago while sitting on our front porch watching the birds in our yard jump from the trees to the fence to the ground and the flutter off. I don’t have much to add to these words of revelation. I don’t want to taint them and pureness that they came from in a moment spent with the Lord. After sharing this with my husband he said, “I’m sure those birds at one time did feel a bit nervous jumping from their perch; especially when they were baby birds leaving the nest.” This is so true for us as well, when we are still learning to trust the Lord or trying to regain our footing of trust in Him after a difficult season or when we’ve lost sight of His faithfulness we are much like a baby bird leaping from its nest for the first time. Our hearts pound out of our chest and our breathing quickens in a moment of surrender, but praise Him that He is our protector, the faithful one who helps our hearts & souls take flight! He is the author and the finisher of our faith & He will never leave or forsake us! He is faithful to complete the good work which He started in us!

I know I will be thinking on these words for a while, and I hope that they speak the Lords love into your life as well! Thank you for joining me on this Brave Adventure!

-Love
